This painting comes from my readings about the Navajo Indians. Their wealth was in their horses. The man with the most horses was the ‘mayor’ of the region.
With overgrazing and erosion, the
government forced them to reduce their herds. “All His Wealth” depicts
a man looking over his horses; his profits for the year. A far more rewarding
view, I think, than the electronic profit and loss statements of today.
