The Tetons! What a great place, wildlife and wilderness. I will never get tired of scenes like these. While doing a study for this painting, I watched a very large Bull Moose make his way down the river foraging from one bank to the other. At times he would completely disappear in the water, staying under long enough to surprise me just how long they can hold their breath. Coming up for air, his antlers skimming along like a rising submarine, chewing on the greenery from the deepest part of the river.
I could not help but think
of this scene with two cowboys crossing the river, not knowing for sure where
the deepest part might be. Were they in it or approaching it…?
